A LITTLE MORE KNOW-HOW.
Preparing Facebook Page posts for scheduling
Prepare Facebook Page Reels for SocialRoster; use native or other supported tools for photo, link-preview and text-only posts.
Current product: YouTube-only. New plans support 2 or 6 YouTube channels at $19.99 or $29.99 per month. Older provider and pricing references below are retained for legacy customers, not new connection offers. Existing subscriptions and scheduled posts are preserved. Current plans and fair use.

SocialRoster currently schedules video Reels to a connected Facebook Page, not personal profiles or generic photo, link-preview or text-only posts. The broader format notes below are for native Facebook tools or another tool that explicitly supports them, not additional SocialRoster features.
Page access and permissions
To publish to a Page through Meta's Graph API you need a Page you administer, an app with the appropriate Page permissions granted, and a Page access token derived from the connected user. The exact permission names and review requirements change periodically, so confirm them in Meta's current developer documentation rather than copying an older integration guide.
If several people manage the Page, check who granted the connection. When that person's access is removed, the integration stops working, and the error you see at that point rarely names the real cause.
Choose a supported workflow before choosing a post type
- Video Reels: the current SocialRoster Facebook route. Other Page-video formats require a separately verified workflow.
- Photo: outside SocialRoster’s current publishing flow. Prepare and publish it in native tools or another supported tool.
- Link-preview post: outside SocialRoster’s current publishing flow; use native tools or another supported tool and check the destination metadata.
- Text-only post: outside SocialRoster’s current publishing flow; use native tools or another supported tool.
Preparing video for a Page
- Export MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio unless you have a specific reason not to.
- For the SocialRoster Facebook route, use a 4–60 second MP4, MOV or M4V video with readable duration. When dimensions are available, the app checks for 9:16 framing and at least 540×960 resolution.
- Make the video understandable without sound, for example with readable captions incorporated into the export.
- Write a title and description for the video itself, not just post copy. They are used in places the post copy is not.
- Confirm current duration and file size limits in Meta's documentation before committing a long video to a batch.
Native or other-tool link posts depend on the destination page
When you schedule a link post, the preview image, title and description are read from the destination page's Open Graph tags. If that page has no share image or a stale title, the post will look wrong no matter how good your copy is. Fix the destination's metadata before scheduling the post, and remember that Facebook caches what it scraped — you may need to force a refresh through its sharing debugger.
Writing the copy
Facebook truncates longer copy behind a see-more link, so the opening sentence carries the post. Keep it specific. Avoid the pattern of asking a question purely to provoke replies; it is transparent and it trains an audience to comment without reading.
Hashtags do comparatively little here. One or two that genuinely categorise the post are fine; a block of ten is noise imported from another network.
Decision points
- Publish the same video to Facebook and Instagram? Often reasonable, since both are Meta surfaces and the audiences differ. Adjust the copy even when the file is identical.
- Schedule through Meta's own Page tools or through your scheduler? Whichever you choose, avoid using both for the same post. Two systems holding the same intent is how duplicates happen.
- Need a photo, text-only or link-preview post? Choose a native or other supported workflow; do not queue it as a SocialRoster Reel.
Limitations to be aware of
API publishing is rate limited per app and per Page, and limits are enforced independently of your local queue. Large same-day batches are the usual way to discover this. Spread high-volume days, and treat a rate limit response as a signal to slow down rather than something to retry immediately in a loop.
Some Page features available in the interface are not exposed to the API, and availability shifts. If a specific feature is central to your plan, confirm programmatic support before designing around it.
Troubleshooting
- A permissions error naming a scope: inspect the full message before choosing a fix. Missing consent, access to the selected Page or the integration’s approval can require different remedies. Reconnect if the message identifies missing or revoked consent and you have the required Page access; reconnecting cannot grant an integration permission that has not been approved. Do not repeatedly retry the same failed upload.
- The post publishes to the wrong destination: more than one Page is accessible and the wrong one was selected during connection. Check which Page the integration is bound to.
- For a link-preview post created outside SocialRoster’s Reel flow: stale destination metadata or Facebook’s cached preview may be involved. Check the destination page and Facebook’s sharing debugger; this is not a SocialRoster Reel publishing feature.
- Video uploads but does not appear immediately: video is processed asynchronously. Wait for the processing result before republishing.
- Several posts stop working: inspect the exact errors before reconnecting. If the response identifies an expired or invalid token or revoked consent, review Page access and reconnect as appropriate. Other causes, including processing, rate limits or integration approval, need different checks.
A short pre-queue checklist
For SocialRoster: confirm Page access, the exact connected Page, current permissions and a compatible Reel. Check readable duration, file format, dimensions, caption and scheduled time. For photo, link-preview and text-only posts, prepare a separate native or other-tool workflow.
Questions
- Can a personal Facebook profile be scheduled to programmatically?
- Automated publishing through the Graph API targets Pages. Personal profile publishing is not the supported path, so plan around a Page.
- Why does my link post show the wrong image?
- Link-preview posts are not supported by SocialRoster’s current Facebook Reels flow. For a link post made in native tools or another supported tool, check the destination page’s Open Graph metadata and Facebook’s cached preview.
