EVERY LITTLE DETAIL COUNTS.

Check YouTube’s current Shorts format and duration rules before treating a finished upload as a Short. A YouTube Shorts scheduler must fit both the video and the publishing settings you need. SocialRoster can queue a video upload to a connected YouTube account, but a completed upload is not proof that the video is public. Its per-post selector supports Public, Unlisted and Private; new posts default to Public while unchanged legacy posts retain their previous channel default. It does not offer a per-post audience selector. Check those limits before choosing it for a public release.

For faceless Shorts, finish the edit first, then select the intended YouTube channel, review the title and description, and build a small checked queue. YouTube Starter supports 2 channels at $19.99/month; YouTube Pro supports 6 at $29.99/month. Both include a 3-day card-required trial for eligible new subscribers and no monthly scheduling-count cap within fair use. Your chosen AI tools and video production remain separate.

Other sources keep their original check dates below. Platform rules and account eligibility can change. A scheduled item is not confirmation of delivery.

What currently qualifies as a YouTube Short?

Check YouTube’s current Shorts format and duration rules before treating a finished upload as a Short.

YouTube’s help page says square or vertical videos up to three minutes uploaded on or after October 15, 2024 qualify as Shorts for standard channels. For Official Artist Channels, the corresponding date is December 8, 2025. Older uploads retain their earlier classification. YouTube determines the classification; SocialRoster does not convert a landscape or over-length video into a Short. See source 1.

The same YouTube page says Shorts longer than one minute with an active copyright claim are blocked globally until the claim is resolved. Clear rights before uploading; successful transfer of the video does not establish copyright clearance or monetization eligibility. See source 1.

Check these SocialRoster limitations before scheduling

Review SocialRoster’s visibility, audience and publishing limitations before queueing a Short.

  • Visibility: choose Public, Unlisted or Private for each post. New posts default to Public. Existing posts without a choice keep their previous channel default; an explicit customer choice always takes precedence over administrative metadata.
  • Audience: the current upload implementation sends not made for kids and has no per-post audience selector. Do not use this path for made-for-kids content; use YouTube Studio to set the appropriate audience before publishing.
  • Scheduling: SocialRoster queues the upload attempt. Do not assume it also creates a YouTube Studio scheduled public-release time.
  • Metadata: the current upload sends the post title and combined caption/hashtags as its description. A separate thumbnail, playlist or subtitle-file workflow is not established here.

YouTube requires creators to identify the audience of their videos. If the current SocialRoster controls cannot express the correct setting for your content, use YouTube Studio rather than accepting an incorrect default. See source 2.

A safe workflow for a representative clip

Test one representative finished clip and verify its channel, settings and resulting YouTube upload before scaling the batch.

  1. Confirm the channel you connected and determine whether the current audience and visibility behavior fits the intended upload. If not, stop and use YouTube Studio.
  2. Prepare a finished square or vertical video within the applicable Shorts rules, with rights cleared and the final title and caption ready.
  3. Import the file, choose YouTube and review the planned time. Keep one system responsible for the upload so you do not send the same video twice.
  4. After the scheduled attempt, inspect its status and video reference. Processing means YouTube has not yet finished handling it.
  5. Open YouTube Studio and verify the actual visibility, audience setting, processing and Shorts classification. Do not infer public availability from a SocialRoster success label.

Separate upload success from public availability

A successful YouTube upload is not proof that viewers can access the video publicly.

YouTube’s videos.insert endpoint uploads media and metadata using authorized account access. SocialRoster records the returned video reference and processing state. The file can finish processing while remaining private. If you need an exact public release time or per-video audience controls, use YouTube Studio for that publishing workflow and avoid duplicating it in SocialRoster. See source 3 for the underlying upload API.

Troubleshooting before another upload

Inspect the existing video and reported error before uploading a second copy of a Short.

  • Private when you expected public: check the video in YouTube Studio and the visibility chosen for that post; do not upload a second copy to fix visibility.
  • Processing: wait and inspect the existing video reference before retrying.
  • Permission or quota error: check connection status and the actual provider error; repeated retries do not grant permission or extra quota.
  • Not classified as a Short: verify dimensions, duration and relevant upload-date rules against source 1.
  • Audience setting cannot represent the content: use YouTube Studio rather than this upload path.

Questions

Can SocialRoster guarantee a Short becomes public at my selected time?
No. Its current flow schedules an upload attempt; new posts default to Public and you can choose Public, Unlisted or Private per post. Existing posts without a choice retain their previous channel default. Verify the video in YouTube Studio and use Studio when you need a controlled public-release schedule.
Can I use SocialRoster for made-for-kids videos?
Not with the current upload path. It sends not made for kids and has no per-post audience selector. Use YouTube Studio to set the appropriate audience.
Does a video have to be vertical to qualify as a Short?
YouTube’s current eligibility guidance includes square as well as vertical videos up to three minutes, subject to the upload-date rules described above.
Does published status mean everyone can watch the video?
No. Processing completion and public visibility are different. Verify the actual visibility and availability in YouTube Studio.
