A LITTLE MORE KNOW-HOW.

Schedule YouTube videos at two-hour intervals

By Aaron Colbry, founder of SocialRoster · Updated

Build a reviewed YouTube queue with two-hour spacing. Check overnight adjustments, timezones, existing posts and upload outcomes before applying a batch.

EVERY LITTLE DETAIL COUNTS.

Twelve videos at two-hour intervals span 22 hours from the first post to the last when overnight skipping is off. To schedule finished videos every two hours in SocialRoster, select the videos, open Bulk schedule, choose the first post’s date and time, and set Post every to 2 hours. Review the schedule preview and your Skip overnight hours setting before saving. An interval sets the gap between posts in this batch; it does not choose an ideal posting frequency for your audience.

A 12-video example you can check

Twelve videos at two-hour intervals span 22 hours from the first post to the last when overnight skipping is off.

Suppose you have 12 finished clips and choose Monday at 09:00 as the start. With overnight skipping off, the queue is Monday 09:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00, 19:00, 21:00 and 23:00, followed by Tuesday 01:00, 03:00, 05:00 and 07:00. There are 11 gaps between 12 posts, so the last slot is 22 hours after the first.

With SocialRoster’s overnight skipping on, the first eight slots stay the same. Tuesday’s remaining slots become 06:00, 08:00, 10:00 and 12:00. The first overnight slot moves to 06:00, and subsequent intervals run from that adjusted time. This example assumes no clock change in the device’s local time zone.

SocialRoster’s overnight window is midnight to before 06:00. It is not a custom business-hours calendar. A 23:00 post can remain in the queue. If your cutoff is 20:00, review and adjust those later slots individually.

Set up the batch

Select the finished clips, set a future start and two-hour interval, then inspect every proposed date before saving.

  1. Finish the video exports and keep the original files somewhere you control. Import the clips into Content Library, which currently holds up to 50 videos in this browser.
  2. Select only the clips for this batch and open Bulk schedule. Check that their displayed order matches the sequence you want.
  3. Set First post to a future date and local time with enough room for your review. Then select 2 hours under Post every.
  4. Choose the intended YouTube channel. New plans and connections are YouTube-only. Check the exact channel identity and required permissions in Accounts. TikTok is Coming soon; connecting, scheduling and publishing to TikTok are unavailable. A destination selected in the planner is not proof that it can publish.
  5. Choose a caption option, then inspect the resulting text, file, destination and disclosures. New YouTube posts default to Public; select Unlisted or Private deliberately when appropriate. Existing posts without a choice preserve their prior channel default.
  6. Save the batch and inspect the calendar. Check the first and last posts, the overnight boundary, and any posts already scheduled outside this batch.

What the overnight switch changes

Skip overnight hours moves proposed times between midnight and 05:59 to 06:00 in the scheduling timezone.

The Skip overnight hours switch in Bulk schedule moves a calculated time between 00:00 and 05:59 to 06:00. This applies to the first slot too: a 02:00 start becomes 06:00 when skipping is on. The gap across that boundary can be longer than two hours. That longer gap is expected.

The setting is used when the batch is created. Changing your default interval or overnight preference later does not rebuild an existing queue. Review the scheduled posts themselves when you need to change an established plan. Avoid recreating a whole batch while its earlier copies are still scheduled.

Choose the interval for the amount of content

Calculate the required coverage as the interval multiplied by one less than the number of posts, then check overnight adjustments.

Work backward from the coverage you need. Six videos at two-hour intervals occupy a ten-hour span when no overnight adjustment intervenes. They do not provide six days of content. If you want one video per day, use the 24-hour option or individual dates instead.

  • Use a two-hour interval when you deliberately want several posts in a day and can support that volume with worthwhile, distinct clips.
  • Use a wider interval when a small batch needs to last longer or each post needs more time for audience discussion.
  • Use individual times for a launch, an agreed collaboration time, an embargo, or a slot that should stay fixed.
  • Choose a preset or a custom interval in minutes, hours or days. Custom intervals range from 1 minute to 30 days, in whole-minute increments; use individual times for exceptions.

Check the queue across all destinations

Review each destination separately because a batch interval spaces video posts rather than automatically staggering destinations.

One batch can have several selected destinations, but its interval is between video posts. It does not automatically stagger that video across the selected networks. For an existing legacy connection only, if a clip was planned as an Instagram Reel at 09:00 and a Facebook Page Reel at 15:00 with different copy, plan those as separate scheduled posts and check that you have not left the original combined post active. These are example times, not recommended posting times for every audience.

Also inspect existing entries. The interval preview calculates this batch’s sequence; it is not evidence that an older scheduled post or a post made in another app will avoid the same time. Keep one clear owner for each publish action.

Before you rely on automatic publishing

Confirm the connected channel, saved job, visibility and required disclosures before relying on automatic publishing.

Review the connected account, destination, file, caption and required disclosures. Choose Public, Unlisted or Private per YouTube post. New posts default to Public; unchanged legacy posts retain their previous channel default. There is no per-post audience selector. Check those requirements before planning a public release. Publishing depends on the live integration, account eligibility, permissions and network limits. A saved calendar entry and a confirmed published post are different states. After the first scheduled time, inspect its status before assuming the rest of the batch is healthy.

Check the time zone displayed in the batch form, especially when traveling. The preview shows each post’s full date and UTC offset in the browser’s time zone. Intervals measure elapsed time: one day is 24 hours. A daylight-saving transition can therefore change the local clock times you see; review the full preview for any queue that spans one.

Try a small batch first

Test a small reviewed batch and verify its saved entries before filling a larger queue.

Start with a few finished clips you have permission to publish. Check the generated schedule, complete the required reviews, and verify the first outcome. Once the timing fits your workflow, use the same process for a larger set.

YouTube Starter is $19.99 per month for up to 2 channels; YouTube Pro is $29.99 per month for up to 6. Both have no monthly scheduling-count cap, subject to a 50 GiB scheduled queue safety limit, 1 GiB per file, and YouTube channel and API quotas. Eligible new subscribers get a 3-day trial requiring a card, followed by automatic monthly charges unless canceled before the trial ends.

Choose a plan for this workflow

For the channel allowance that fits this workflow, compare SocialRoster pricing for 2 or 6 YouTube channels before starting a trial. The 3-day trial requires a card and renews at your chosen plan’s monthly price unless canceled.

Questions

Does every two hours mean 12 posts a day?
A continuous two-hour schedule has 12 slots in a 24-hour period. Overnight skipping changes that pattern. Use the actual preview for the chosen start time and check the calendar after saving.
Can I choose an arbitrary interval such as 90 minutes?
Yes. Choose Custom interval, enter 90 and select Minutes. The supported range is 1 minute to 30 days in whole-minute increments. Review the preview before saving.
Does overnight skipping change existing posts?
The preference is applied when the batch is created. Review or reschedule existing entries directly if their timing needs to change.
