A LITTLE MORE KNOW-HOW.

How to schedule Instagram Reels with the right account and video

By Aaron Colbry, founder of SocialRoster · Updated

Check SocialRoster’s Facebook-linked Instagram connection, video-only importer, Reel preparation and processing status before scheduling a batch.

Current product: YouTube-only. New plans support 2 or 6 YouTube channels at $19.99 or $29.99 per month. Older provider and pricing references below are retained for legacy customers, not new connection offers. Existing subscriptions and scheduled posts are preserved. Current plans and fair use.

EVERY LITTLE DETAIL COUNTS.

TikTok status: Coming soon. TikTok scheduling and publishing are coming soon. Your existing posts, drafts and connection are kept. The TikTok guidance in this guide is general preparation advice, not an available SocialRoster publishing flow. For YouTube, check account permissions and publishing status before scheduling.

SocialRoster schedules finished video files as Instagram Reels through a connected professional account. Its current integration uses a Facebook Page linked to that Instagram account. It does not import static images or assemble image carousels. Check account access, prepare the video, review captions and times, then verify the publishing result.

Which Instagram account can connect?

Meta’s Instagram API with Facebook Login supports professional accounts—businesses and creators—and requires a linked Facebook Page. SocialRoster uses this connection path. This is not a claim that every Instagram integration uses Facebook Login; check the requirements of the specific tool you use. See source 1.

  1. In Accounts, connect Instagram through the network authorization screen. Use an account that can access the linked Facebook Page.
  2. Verify the connected Instagram handle, especially if you manage several Pages or profiles.
  3. If the expected account is missing, check the professional-account and Page relationship before retrying authorization. Do not prepare a full batch against the wrong destination.

What files can I import—and what will Instagram accept?

SocialRoster’s current importer accepts MP4, MOV, M4V and WebM video files. Import acceptance is not a guarantee that Instagram accepts the same container or encoding. Meta’s Reels reference lists MOV or MP4 containers, H.264 or HEVC video and AAC audio, with a recommended 9:16 frame. Prepare a compatible export before uploading; SocialRoster does not transcode the file for you. See source 2.

The local Content Library holds up to 50 videos total, including existing imports. Meta’s published Reel requirements and your account eligibility still apply independently of that library capacity. Check the linked reference for current duration, bitrate and size limits rather than treating a successful local import as provider validation.

Schedule a small reviewed batch

  1. Play the finished export and check that audio, captions and important text remain readable in a vertical frame.
  2. Import the videos into Content Library, select the intended clips and prepare their captions.
  3. Choose the connected Instagram destination and review the first time and interval, or set individual times.
  4. Inspect the calendar for overlaps with content already scheduled here or elsewhere. Approve only the intended queue.
  5. Check the provider result and Instagram account after the first scheduled post before relying on the rest of the batch.

What does processing mean?

SocialRoster creates an Instagram Reel container, checks its processing state and then requests publication. A processing status is not a reason to start a second upload immediately. Check the existing post’s status and destination first; the implementation preserves the container reference while processing. A local schedule row and a published Reel are different outcomes.

  • Missing account or permission error: verify the linked professional account and granted access, then reconnect if needed.
  • Media error: check the provider error and re-export to a supported format before retrying.
  • Still processing: inspect the existing result before creating another post.
  • Wrong destination: stop further scheduling and confirm the account handle before resuming.

What this workflow does not promise

Posting times are planning choices, not a guarantee of reach. Choose times using your own audience evidence and production capacity; neither fixed daily slots nor short intervals guarantees better performance. This flow publishes video Reels, not Instagram Stories, static images or carousels. TikTok scheduling remains Coming soon and is not an available alternate destination.

Questions

Can I schedule Reels from a personal Instagram account?
Not through SocialRoster’s current integration. It uses a professional Instagram account linked to a Facebook Page, with the required access.
Can I import image carousels into SocialRoster?
No. The current Content Library imports videos and does not import static images or assemble image carousels.
Why did my video import but fail when publishing?
The browser importer and Instagram enforce different checks. A file accepted into the library may still have an unsupported encoding or other provider restriction. Inspect the error and Meta’s current Reels requirements.
Should I immediately retry a processing Reel?
Check the existing result and Instagram destination first. Processing is not the same as failure, and creating a second post can duplicate the intended upload.
